Change Yourself

If you want to ride with a group that is interested in using time on a bicycle  to help develop your body, mind and spirit, then you might be one of us. If you are committed to a wholesome riding environment which encourages the best in you and others then you are probably one of us.
We are a non-judgmental club and want to provide you with plenty of encouragement and challenge as you ride. We want to educate you on safety and good equipment. We also want to keep our rides good for us in every way so we all can be challenged to be strong and excel together. In many ways Cycle Mission is about trusting God to change us, to transform us, so that our health and well-being are improved. However, most important is the spiritual aspect of change and the strength that change can bring. You can be involved in Cycle Mission but you will not remain the same if you do. You will learn things about yourself that you never knew. You will spend time with men who will build you up and challenge you to grow. Get involved and you will see, you can do it.

Change Others

There are many good organizations doing good things in a good way. I have ridden with some of them. They are single-minded in their approach and many of these groups claim great success for their cause.
During my varied life as a missionary, hospital and hospice chaplain and pastor in the USA and abroad, I have discovered that lives are rarely touched in a big way by a big organization. What I believe is the best and most efficient use of funding to help others comes from what inspires the local group because they chose the goals themselves. I also found that often those goals need to change because the needs change. For example, raising $10,000 and giving it to a large organization will not noticeably change their lives, but if a group gave $10,000 to a single struggling family who did not qualify for public assistance because they “fell through the cracks” that would indeed change their lives. These families are, in large part, the motivation for starting this group.

Change the World

During my years of work outside the USA I have found some people who are very deserving of help. They live austere lives and yet they give with great joy.  Part of our goal will be to find ways to give to these works through trips of encouragement and finances. Many Third World countries use bicycles as their primary means of transportation and organizing a “cycling event” with folks in their own communities may be a viable way to promote missions abroad.
